Optional add-ons

Add-ons, priced per service address

Refrigerant Coverage · $5/month

Available on all tiers. Without it, refrigerant isn’t included on any plan.

  • Covers all outdoor units at the address; certified systems only.
  • Up to 2 lb of refrigerant per outdoor unit per year. Beyond that, our standard flat-rate pricing applies, with member rates where applicable.
  • Coverage starts 90 days after you add it. Leaks found during those 90 days aren’t covered.
  • Tier 1: covers the refrigerant only; finding and repairing the leak is billed at our flat rates. Tier 2: refrigerant on top of your labor coverage. Tier 3: everything for a leak is covered (refrigerant up to the cap, finding and repairing the leak, and the service call).
  • A leak that keeps coming back must be repaired before more refrigerant is covered. Not covered: rodent or physical damage, line sets not installed by Mini Splits USA or changed since installation, and any tampering.

Service Call · $9/month

Available on Tier 1 and Tier 2.

  • Covers one service call per year (normally $119).
  • Additional service calls that year are $119 each.
  • Can also cover the service call if your voltage monitor stops working.
Certification

Every system gets a checkup before it’s covered

New members’ systems must be certified by Mini Splits USA. We certify during your annual maintenance/service visit, our standard $349 maintenance/service call. There’s no separate certification fee.

Your first annual maintenance is due 12 months after your plan starts, with a 3-month grace period (up to 15 months in total). After that, systems must stay certified to stay on the plan. We check at every visit, and if a system no longer meets our standards we’ll show you what we found and, except for rodent damage, what it would take to get it certified again.

Rodent damage is permanent

If we find rodent damage on a system, that system is permanently removed from the Protection Club and can’t be added back to any plan, even after it’s repaired. This applies to all members.

To be certified, a system needs

  • Clean units. If your units need it, a deep cleaning is part of getting certified.
  • Good installation work. No poor or unsafe installation workmanship or unusual installs.
  • Proper line sets. Copper lines and wiring between units run neatly and correctly.
  • Reachable units. We must be able to safely get to every unit; inaccessible units can’t be certified.
  • No rodent damage.
  • Voltage monitor. Required on every outdoor unit for Tier 3; strongly recommended on Tiers 1 and 2.

Inherited systems welcome: we accept a system installed by another company if it came with a home you bought. It must be certified too. We can’t accept other-company systems you had installed yourself.

Good to know

The rules that apply to every plan

Priced per address

One price covers every eligible system at your service address. Removing one system doesn’t change it.

Stay paid up

All benefits are suspended immediately while an account is past due, with no grace period. They resume once you’re paid up.

Card on file

Automatic billing is required. Cash and check aren’t accepted. 12-month minimum on every plan. Plus WV sales tax.

Stay in touch

Stay opted in to two-way service texts and keep a valid email on file. Opting out of marketing texts only is fine.

Transferable

Selling your home? Plans transfer to the new homeowner at no charge (see each plan for details).

Already a member?

Tier 1 and 2 members who joined before October 7, 2026 are grandfathered from certification. The rodent-damage rule still applies.

Plan details

Full plan details

A plain-English summary of each plan. Your plan agreement, including the Certification & Eligibility terms and the Mini Splits USA Terms and Conditions, governs if anything here differs.

Tier 1: Base Protection Club $22.99/mo or $279/yr

$22.99 per month, or $279 per year paid in advance, plus WV sales tax. Covers every eligible system at one service address. Service performed by Mini Split Doctors.

Included

  • One annual maintenance visit per year (truck roll included): system examination, basic inspection, filter evaluation, issue detection and electrical safety inspection. This satisfies the mandatory annual maintenance requirement.
  • Member dispatch rate of $119 for service calls (standard rate $349).

Not included

  • Repair labor.
  • Cleanings, billed separately: $129 for the first indoor head and $99 for each additional head.
  • Refrigerant, unless you add Refrigerant Coverage.

Good to know

  • Voltage monitor strongly recommended on each outdoor unit: $399 installed per outdoor unit for members (regular $499). If a monitor stops working, the $119 member service call applies unless covered by the Service Call add-on.
  • 12-month minimum. Monthly plans continue month to month after the minimum; the yearly plan renews each year until canceled.
  • Yearly plan: if you cancel mid-year, or if every system at your address is removed, we refund the unused full months, minus the value of any included visit already used.
  • Monthly plan: if every system at your address is removed (failed certification or rodent damage), billing stops at the end of the current month.
  • Transfers to a new owner of the home at no charge. If the new homeowner accepts and keeps Tier 1 at the same address, we mail the previous homeowner a $50 referral check after the new owner’s first plan payment (limit one per home sale).
Tier 2: Full Labor Warranty Subscription $49/mo

$49 per month per service address, plus WV sales tax. Covers every eligible system at one service address. Service performed by Mini Split Doctors.

Included

  • Everything in Tier 1: one annual maintenance visit per year (satisfies the mandatory annual maintenance requirement) and the $119 member dispatch rate (standard $349).
  • $0 labor on repairs covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, for as long as your subscription is active and your account is fully paid up.

Not included

  • Cleanings, billed separately: $129 for the first indoor head and $99 for each additional head.
  • Refrigerant, unless you add Refrigerant Coverage.

How labor coverage works

  • Labor coverage applies only while your subscription is active and fully paid. It is not a fixed-term warranty. If a payment is missed, coverage is suspended immediately.
  • Annual maintenance must be performed exclusively by Mini Splits USA (your subscription includes the visit). Missing it pauses coverage until a visit is completed.
  • Reactivation after a missed payment or cancellation requires an annual maintenance visit first. No transfer or reactivation fees.
  • Labor coverage doesn’t include parts and materials, and doesn’t cover damage from acts of God, power surges, animal damage or lack of maintenance. Coverage is void if anyone other than Mini Splits USA services the unit, or if the unit is moved from its original location.
  • Transfers to a new homeowner at no charge with no more than a 30-day gap; the new owner puts a card on file and accepts the plan.
  • The full Labor Coverage Terms (including cancellation, limitation of liability and arbitration in West Virginia) are part of your plan agreement.
Tier 3: Lifetime Warranty $99/mo

$99 per month per service address, plus WV sales tax. Covers every certified system at one service address. Service performed by Mini Split Doctors.

Included

  • Everything in Tier 2: one annual maintenance visit per year, the $119 member dispatch rate (standard $349), and $0 labor on repairs covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Lifetime labor: $0 labor on repairs to the covered unit for its service life, including after the manufacturer’s warranty ends. While the parts warranty is in effect, parts come through that warranty; after it ends, you pay for parts and we cover the labor.
  • One annual deep cleaning per outdoor unit, covering up to 2 indoor heads connected to it. Each additional head is $99 at the annual visit.
  • Loyalty Reward: earn up to $4,000 toward your next system ($250 per continuous year on Tier 3, up to 16 years), usable only toward a new replacement system installed by Mini Splits USA. No cash value; not transferable; 30-day grace period after a missed payment or cancellation.

Required

  • A working voltage monitor on every outdoor unit: $399 installed per outdoor unit for members (regular $499). An outdoor unit without a working monitor can’t be certified for Tier 3. If a monitor stops working, the service call and the replacement monitor are fully covered.

Not included

  • Refrigerant, unless you add Refrigerant Coverage. With Tier 3 plus the add-on, everything is covered for a refrigerant leak: refrigerant up to the 2 lb yearly cap, finding and repairing the leak, and the service call.
FAQ

Protection Club questions

Still have a question? Call (304) 246-3080 or send us a message.

What does “priced per address” mean?

Each plan’s price covers every eligible system at one service address. If you have three outdoor units at your home, it’s still one plan price. If one system doesn’t pass certification, that system loses coverage, your other systems stay covered, and the price for your address stays the same.

What is certification, and what does it cost?

Certification means a system meets our standards: clean units, good installation work, neat and correct line sets, units we can safely reach, and no rodent damage. Tier 3 also needs a working voltage monitor on every outdoor unit.

There’s no separate certification fee. We certify during an annual maintenance/service visit, which is our standard $349 maintenance/service call. The visit alone doesn’t make a system certified; it has to meet every standard.

Do I have to be certified before I can join?

No. Your first annual maintenance is due 12 months after your plan starts, with a 3-month grace period, so you have up to 15 months to complete it and get your systems certified. After that, your systems must stay certified to stay on the plan.

My system was installed by another company. Can I join?

Yes, if it came with a home you bought, meaning the previous owner had it installed and then sold you the house. These inherited systems must be certified too. We can’t accept other-company systems that you had installed yourself.

Not joining a plan? We still service all makes and models. Book a visit.

What happens if you find rodent damage?

If we find rodent damage on any system, that system is permanently removed from the Protection Club. It can’t be added back to any plan, even after it’s repaired. This applies to all members. Removing a system doesn’t change the price for your address. We check every system for rodent damage at every visit.

What if a payment is missed?

Every plan and add-on benefit is suspended immediately while your account isn’t fully paid up, including maintenance visits, member pricing and coverage. There’s no grace period for benefits. They resume once your account is fully paid. On Tiers 2 and 3, an annual maintenance visit must be completed before labor coverage is reactivated. There are no reactivation fees.

Is there a contract?

Every plan has a 12-month minimum commitment and continues until you cancel after the minimum. A card on file with automatic billing is required; cash and check aren’t accepted. If you’re on the yearly Tier 1 plan and cancel mid-year, we refund the unused full months, minus the value of any included visit already used.

Do I need a voltage monitor?

On Tier 3, yes: every outdoor unit needs a working voltage monitor to be certified. On Tiers 1 and 2 it’s strongly recommended. It’s $399 installed per outdoor unit for members (regular price $499). Learn more.

Are cleanings included?

Tier 3 includes one annual deep cleaning per outdoor unit, covering up to 2 indoor heads connected to it; each additional head is $99 at the annual visit. On Tiers 1 and 2, cleanings are billed separately at $129 for the first indoor head and $99 for each additional head. If your units need it, a deep cleaning is part of getting certified.

What does “lifetime” mean on Tier 3?

It means the service life of the unit, not the customer’s lifetime. While the manufacturer’s parts warranty is in effect, parts come through that warranty. After it ends, you pay for parts and we cover the labor. Coverage continues as long as the unit stays in service at its original installed location, the subscription stays active and fully paid, and annual maintenance is performed by Mini Splits USA.

How does the Tier 3 Loyalty Reward work?

You earn a $250 credit for each continuous year on Tier 3, up to $4,000 (16 years). The credit can be used only toward a new replacement system installed by Mini Splits USA. It has no cash value and can’t be transferred. If you miss a payment or cancel, you have 30 days to fix the payment or reinstate and keep your credit; after 30 days it resets to $0. The credit can’t be used while your account is past due.

Is refrigerant covered?

Not on any plan unless you add Refrigerant Coverage for $5/month per service address. It covers up to 2 lb of refrigerant per outdoor unit per year, for certified systems only, starting 90 days after you add it.

Can I transfer my plan if I sell my home?

Yes, at no charge. On Tier 1, if the new homeowner accepts and keeps the plan, we’ll mail you a $50 referral check as a thank-you after their first plan payment (one per home sale). On Tiers 2 and 3, the subscription transfers as long as there’s no more than a 30-day gap and the new owner puts a card on file and accepts the plan. The Tier 3 Loyalty Reward credit doesn’t transfer.

I joined the Protection Club before October 7, 2026. Does certification apply to me?

Tier 1 and Tier 2 members who joined before October 7, 2026 are grandfathered, and their systems never need to be certified. The rodent-damage rule still applies to everyone. Every system on Tier 3 must be certified.

Why do you need my mobile number and email?

Member pricing depends on automated scheduling. To stay on a plan, you need to stay opted in to two-way service (non-marketing) text messages from Mini Splits USA and keep a valid email address on file. Opting out of marketing texts only is fine.
